September 16, 2017 Program: "The Plight of Constitutional Freedom" Speaker: Brian Naples Brian Naples, instructor of Government at Panola College, gave a moving program on the “Plight for Constitutional Freedom.” September 17, 2017 is the 230th anniversary of the ratification of our Constitution. Mr Naples said the reason for so many protests today is that many of our citizens don’t understand our history. The Constitution is not just a document but a philosophy. The Founding Fathers believed that we transcend time—we are the product of what came before us and we pledge our lives and sacred honor to pass this on to those behind us. The Founders knew that the basic nature of man is self-interest and formed the government with this in mind. Their foresight has led to the growth of our nation and today America has more freedom than another other nation in the world.
